1. GENERAL
(1.01 – Work Included) Rolling steel doors shall be KRD service type. Flat slats manufactured by Kim’s Roll-Up. Chain hoist operated doors are standard on service doors up to 200sq. ft. Manual operated doors available up to 100sq. ft. and 12ft. wide. Motor operated doors are available in all sizes.

(1.02 – Work not included) Preparation of openings, miscellaneous or structural metal work, access panels, finish or field painting, field electric wiring, wire, conduit, fuses and disconnect switches are not included in the work provided by KRD.

2. PRODUCTS
(2.01) General items and components described in the following paragraphs reflect current products manufactured by KRD, and may be changed without notice by the manufacture without any penalties or liabilities.

(2.02) Curtain standards slats shall be interlocking type, roll-formed from 22, 20 or 18 gages painted galvanized steel. (Galvanized steel only is optional). Lateral slat movement is eliminated by using galvanized end caps fasten to every other slat. End caps shall be designed to prevent slats from wearing at the surfaces in contact with the side guides. Flat slats (FS) cover 2 ½” center to center and are ¾” deep.

(2.03 – Bottom Bar) The bottom bar will be fabricated from two steel angles, minimum of 1/8” thick, bolted back to back, and will incorporate an adjustable tubular bottom weather seal.

(2.04 – Guides) The guides shall be fabricated from three minimum 3/16” structural, prime painted steel angle, bolted together to form a guide channel and a mounting surface. Removable door stops are provided for easy curtain maintenance. Guides shall have full height continuous weather-strip, to seal flat against exterior curtain surface.

(2.05 – Brackets) Bracket plates for mounting the curtain, hood, and barrel assemblies shall be fabricated from a minimum of 3/16” steel plate. The bracket supporting the drive side of the door axle shall be provided with a greaseable, sealed ball bearing in cast iron housing, ready to be attached to the drive end bracket.

(2.06 - Barrel Assembly) The barrel shall be made from a minimum of 6 5/8” O.D. steel pipe. Deflection of the pipe under full load shall not exceed 0.03 inches per foot of span. The barrel shall be provided with threaded lugs, welded to the barrel assembly, for attaching the curtain.

(2.07 – Springs) The spring (tension) end of the barrel assembly shall be provided with an easily removable cast iron plug fitting with an integral sealed ball bearing that supports the spring end of the barrel assembly. Curtain weight shall be counterbalanced by oil tempered, helical torsion springs, grease packed and mounted on a steel torsion shaft. Spring shall be designed to provide a minimum of 20,000 cycles. Higher cycles are available as an additional option.

(2.08 – Hood) The hood shall be formed of minimum 24 gage primed steel sheet, shaped to fit within the bracket places. An intermediate support will be furnished on wider doors to prevent the hood from sagging. (Round or square shaped housing cover). A corded neoprene baffle the width of the hood shall be located inside hood to seal against slats when door is in closed position.

(2.09 - Locking Manual) Push-up doors shall be furnished with interior steel slide bolt locks with a provision for padlocking. Chain hoist operated doors shall have a chain keeper with a padlocking feature.

(2.10 – Finishes) Slats shall be galvanized following ASTM A-525, G-90. Standard finish is two coats, baked on primer system consisting of a minimum of 0.7mm white polyester top of each side. Non-primed finishes are also available.

3. EXECUTION
(3.01 – Installation) Installation to be completed by KRD, or by an authorized representative according to KRD’s standards and instructions.
